Henry and John Kerry

Henry is a New Bedford, Massachusetts native. He graduated from Saint Anthony’s Elementary School and Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School. He then graduated from Bristol Community College with an AA in Communications. He has been working in restaurants since the age of fifteen. South coast favorites like; The Candleworks, The Pasta House, Kate Cory’s at Bittersweet Farm. He was formerly the sous chef at Margaret’s in Fairhaven. Henry has also worked for the Walt Disney World Company in The Land at EPCOT in Orlando, Florida. Henry has also done part-time seasonal cooking for both The New Bedford Yacht Club and The Country Club of New Bedford.

Henry’s first experience as an owner/operator was Four Corner’s Breakfast and Catering on Nauset street in New Bedford. A thirty-eight seat neighborhood diner. In the first six months of Henry taking over the diner his cuisine and customer service style earned him rave reviews and a quickly growing clientele. Henry bought a business doing ok serving seventy five to one hundred meals a day depending on the time of the month to serving one hundred and twenty five to two hundred meals per day.

In addition to his associates’ degree in communications from Bristol Community College, Henry holds a culinary educator certification from the Massachusetts Department of Education. He is also a Serv-Safe certified food-safety manager. Henry is currently on the Board of Directors for the BCC Alumni Association and President of the Mount Pleasant Street Neighborhood Association as well.

Henry then purchased Cobblestone Restaurant in Historic Downtown New Bedford’s Seaport in 2003 with his wife. The two were successful at elevating the restaurants public persona and earning many accolades such as “South Coast Favorites” two years in a row, Cape Cod Life Magazine editors pick for best Breakfast place, and was featured several times in the Standard Times for either new and innovative menu programs, like “Fusion Night”, community service projects and as a contributor to several charitable endeavors. One highlight for Chef Henry and his crew was making lunch for and hosting Massachusetts Senator John Kerry and the entire democratic delegation from the South Coast at the restaurant.

Now, Chef Henry has sold his interest in Cobblestone to pursue his many passions, community service, teaching about food, and now he can focus on raising his two beautiful daughters and enjoying time with his supportive and caring wife, Tee.
